Meeting Needs

At Taren Point Public School we offer a range of programs designed to support students and meet their individual needs. Programs are designed to extend students who may have a special talent or talents and also provide additional assistance to students when needed.

We have specialist teachers who provide specific programs to support students with particular needs. These teachers include the Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA) and the English as a Second Language Teacher (ESL).

Learning Support Team

The Learning Support TEam coordinates the provision of support for students who require extra assistance with their learning.  Referrals can be made to the Learning Support Team by both parents and teachers.  The team designs plans to address specific needs of individual students.

School Counsellor

A school counsellor is available every second Monday.  The counsellor provides a service to parents, students and teachers in regards to student's learning and behaviour.

Learning Assistance Program

Then Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA)  provides support in the classroom and also withdraws students in small groups to assist them with specific learning needs. 

English as a Second Language

Taren Point Public School has an ESL teacher who supports the learning of students who have a language background other than English.  The teacher works within classrooms and also withdraws students for intensive support.
